Hawks won’t miss Wisniewski?

Tim Sassone says James Wisniewski won’t really be missed, as he was the fifth or sixth defenseman on the team, and had some knee issues. Sassone points out that the play of Cam Barker and Matt Walker made Wisniewski expendable.

Did anyone think the Hawks could get through at least a round of the playoffs without a center to play behind Toews and Bolland? Kris Versteeg wasn’t going to cut it.
Pahlsson is a terrific defensive center, and the Hawks are going to need him to play against guys like Sundin, Thornton and Datsyuk in the playoffs.
Dale Tallon is getting ripped by a lot of fans, but he didn’t make this trade on his own. Scotty Bowman and Joel Quenneville both endorsed the deal and wanted Pahlsson.
This is a good trade, provided Pahlsson gets healthy in the next few weeks. We’ll find out for sure in the playoffs.
As for the defense, Cam Barker has been playing better than Wisniewski. So has Matt Walker on many nights. Wisniewski was expendable.
