The Jay Mariotti to the Tribune story will not die. Sources tell us once again that Jay still has designs on working for the Chicago Tribune. The new information has Mariotti and the Trib to do something around January. It was believed that August would be the soonest anything could happen, based on his contract with the Chicago Sun-Times. Mariotti has been telling some people however to expect him at the Super Bowl in a capacity not related to his ESPN show “Around the Horn”. Mariotti could possibly be involved with WGN TV according to our sources. WGN is owned by the Tribune. Jay could make appearances on WGN TV, radio, and on the Tribune website,then after the non-compete clause in his contract expires he would join the Trib’s writing staff.
